Oṃ. Earth. Atmosphere. Heavens. May we obtain/receive (or, may we meditate on) the effulgent radiance of the sun, the Impeller/Vivifier; that deity shall inspire our thoughts and impell us (forward on our path).

This prayer, from the 3rd mandala of the Ṛgveda, is one of the oldest prayers in continuous use today---it has been chanted for about 4.000 years. There are very few prayers in the world with such a long time of uninterrupted use. Here we chant it in the Kṛṣṇa Yajurveda saṃpradāya style as taught by my teacher in that lineage, Shantala Sriramaiah.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः ।
तत् सवितुर्वरेण्यं ।
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि ।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
